The Greencards On The Rise
One of the hottest young bands on the Nashville scene right now aren't even American. The Greencards comprise of two Australians and and Englishman with a strong Irish background.
To listen to them play though you wouldn't know they came from anywhere but the hills of Tennessee.
They formed in Austin Texas after working together on a different project and soon realized that between them they had something special. It wasn't long before others in the music world realized there was something special here and as if from nowhere the Greencards are set for much bigger things.
With a new album ready for release on Dualtone in June the band have also had the honor of being hand picked to open for Bob Dylan and Willy Nelson on a two month tour starting next week.
I managed to catch the band do a great set at Merlefest a few weeks back and they are as good live as they are on CD. So if you have bought tickets for any of those Dylan/Nelson shows don't assume that the opening act is just killing time before the headliners. The Greencards are worth getting there early for and in years to come you can say you were there when they were just starting out.
