John McCusker Takes His Band On The Road

Glasgow born music maestro John McCusker is on the road right now with his band all his native Scotland . John has been playing professionally since the age of 17 but first picked up a fiddle when he was 7. His Irish mother and his childhood in Scotland gave him a great love of the traditional music of both countries. Starting off for fun in Ceilidh bands John ended up not long later with the legendary Battlefield Band touring the world and developing his own unique style during his eleven years with them.

Nowadays John's name is everywhere, even last week he was heavily featured in my review of Kate Rusby's new DVD on Compass Records. John was the musical director for that project, just one of the many musical hats he wears in his extremely busy schedule.

John's band also features fine musicians from that DVD including Ian Carr and Andy Cutting. The band also features the very talented Kris Drever.
