The rains came. Not such an odd thing if you live in Donegal where the show goes out every week but in Georgia 6 days of heavy rain took its toll. At first I was enjoying the prolonged soaking. We have been in a drought situation here for a couple of years now. Even in winter it has been illegal to water your lawn. The lakes have been drying up and rivers have lost a lot of thier flow to a series of hot dry summers.  But after 6 days even I had to say it was enough. People were losing thier lives, property, livelhoods. So now people are working to rebuild and dry out ruined homes and businesses and start again. I love the rain but this time even I had seen enough.

On the show this week I have music from Mindy Smith, The Nitty Gritty Dirt band, Tom Byrne and the lovely Lumiere. Also new music from my hero Guy Clark. So do enjoy the show and let me know what you think. Send any requests to me This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Tune in next week for more great music from both sides of the Atlantic.

Darrell Scott
On today's Across The Pond we skip back one year to a special I did with my good friend Darrell Scott.
Darrell is one of the most successful songwriters in music having written hit songs for Brad Paisley, Reba McEntire, The Dixie Chicks, Sarah Evans, Travit Tritt and more.
He is also one of the finest performers out there today and tours extensively around the world. I have had the pleasure of seeing Darrell play live many times and each time he takes you on a journey filled with stories of love and life.
So last year Darrell released an album of covers, songs by other writers that he loves. The CD is called Modern Hymns and features music from writers like Paul Simon and Joni Mitchel. So I called Darrell at his home in Nashville and we chatted about his career so far and this unique record.

Check out Darrell's website for lots of great music, his blog, videos and a list of tour dates

Across The Pond airs on Thursdays at 6pm GMT, 1pm Eastern and on Sundays at 2pm GMT, 9am EST on http://icrfm.ie

Next week I will be back with a brand new show featuring new music from Tom Byrne, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Lumiere and Guy Clark.

It was a sad weekend as many of us bade farewell to Senator Edward Kennedy. He will be missed my so many. It was a beautiful send off though. I wrote a short piece for Facebook on the day after I heard the news about my own personal feelings about this giant of a man. Check it out here . It was truly one of the great honours of my life to be in the same room with a man who changed the world for the better.

Cara DillonThe Podcast of the show is up a little late this week but if you managed to catch the show on ICR I hope you enjoyed the music. For those of you who wait for the archive stream on JigTime or the podcast, then I think you are in for a treat. Music on the show from Colin Hay, Cara Dillon, Bela Fleck and more.

Don't forget next week is Show number 50. So join me as I celebrate the music of my Facebook friends.  So you can expect music from Ciaran Tourish, John Doyle, Pauline Scanlon, Sharon Shannon and many more. So do tune in later this week to ICRFM.ie
