Spring is in the Air already?

As many of you who read my weekly rambles through the world of roots music you will have read about Magnoliafest in October. It was a wonderful event with some of the finer musicians and bands playing in a lovely setting on the Suwannee River .

Well as if one great festival a year wasn't enough for these fine folks they also have the springtime version coming up in March. Aptly titled the Suwannee Springfest it once again hosts some top names in the world of Bluegrass and traditional Americana music.

The event takes place from March 25th to 28th 2004 and the lineup confirmed so far includes

Del McCoury (C) John Cutliffe 2003Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Del McCoury Band, Tony Rice Unit, Vassar Clements, Donna the Buffalo and Guy Clarke.

Of course this is just a taste of the many acts on the bill as this is one of the most diverse and fun festivals of its kind anywhere. The amazing Duhks from Canada will be making a welcome return as will the fun filled Celtic Soul for those of you who a lilt with your music. As well as Guy Clarke the who's who of songwriters seem to be present with Verlin Thompson, Darrell Scott and Jim Lauderdale all on the bill.

Peter Rowan Trio (C) John Cutliffe 2003The wonderful New Traditionals will be on hand to keep good old time country fans happy and Peter Rowan makes a welcome return, this time with his Texas Trio.
It is all set in the beautiful Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak Florida .

Jigtime will be there once again to soak up the music and bring you loads of new pictures and as we get closer to the event we will have a mush longer lok at the festival and those who will be making the music there.
